Frequently asked questions
Does my child need to attend the session?
You can book an appointment for parents/carers-only. It can be helpful for them to be there to feel part of making a plan for your family. We like to say that the appointment is for supporting the parent/carer to make changes and your child/teenager is there to help them.
What can I expect from the appointment?
Information will be gathered such as medical history, medication, growth, lifestyle factors. A personalised plan will be created for you. You will be provided with some physical information resources.
Will you provide us with a meal plan?
Meal plans can be viewed as being restrictive, so we don't offer individualised meal plans. We do talk through several suggestions for each meal time and you will be given suggestions and recipes.
Do you use GLP-1 weight loss injections?
We don't offer this service at present. We also do not use any other weight loss or appetite supressing medications or supplements.
How much weight will my child lose?
Usually we don't aim for weight loss in children, and aim for weight maintenance (to allow them to grow into the weight) but this does depend on each individual.
Can I use private healthcare to pay for appointments?
At this time it is not possible to accept private medical insurance payments.
